Found more stuff to listen to on the radio (The Friday Rock Show on BBC radio 1 hosted by Tommy Vance every Friday at 10 pm!) so pre Internet for all the kids reading! Then I heard Motorhead's Orgasmatron in 86 and have been a massive fan ever since. I'm 52 now and am a 666% metal head. Motorhead' for life!

Thanks for sharing your journey with us, Farvann. It's not boring at all. I consider black metal to be an acquired taste. I also disliked it the "first" time I heard it (Immortal, Pure Holocaust), but for some strange reason I came back to it again and again. My journey, in summary, would be Michael Jackson (5 years) → * →Bon Jovi (10 years) →Iron Maiden (11 years) → Metallica → Testament → Sepultura → Cannibal Corpse → Immortal (16 years) -> Cradle of Filth (Vempire) -> Darkthrone, Burzum, Mayhem, etc. The asterisk part is strange, like a premonition of what would come later: I listened to Blood Ritual by Samael at a Halloween party when I was 7 years old without knowing it was black metal: I called it "monster music" because it sounded so evil.
